Family Orchestra and NOISEBAND Theater
We create music with a unique sound, oscillating between folk and theater. We perform in prestigious concert halls as well as at village dance gatherings: in community halls, theatrical performances, circus parades, and on the street. We give concerts, lead dance events, workshops, and integration meetings.
In our story, we guide you through the circles of folk initiation – from birth to death, from dawn to dusk, from dance to rosary. We hope that our music, rooted in folk traditions, becomes a vehicle that transcends borders of countries and history, and takes you toward the timeless and transnational – toward beauty, emotion, and joy.
We have created a remarkable performance titled “The Clock Strikes,” based on folk dziadowskie songs, shown for ten seasons in the Yurt and on stages in Poland, Denmark, and France. In this performance, and during the early years of musical activity, Noiseband included the entire Hałas family: Jacek, Alicja, Jonasz, Jakub, and, until recently, Julia (xylophone, snare drum) and Antoni (cello).
Band members:
Jacek Hałas / accordion, crank lyre, shepherd flutes, vocals, dance leader – graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań, musician, singer, dancer, composer. Co-creator of many musical formations, artistic projects, and theatrical works.
Alicja Choromańska-Hałas / baraban drum, gardon – graduate of the Art High School. Her element is playing for dance – in dance workshops, community dances, and weddings. Beyond music and managing a multi-generational household, she creates original artistic objects.
Jonasz Hałas / trumpet – student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, graduate of Art High School and Music School (trumpet). Painter, illustrator, designer, musician exploring tradition, participant in theatrical projects.
Jakub Hałas / button accordion – student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, graduate of Art High School and Music School (jazz accordion). Sculptor, composer, musician interested in the intersection of tradition and modernity, participant in theatrical projects.
