One of the most interesting Polish bands balancing on the edge of folk, jazz, and classical music. The idea of seeking a place for tradition in the contemporary world brought together not only outstanding musicians but also exceptional personalities. The founder and leader of the group is Maciej Filipczuk, with the core lineup including Michał Żak and Jacek Hałas. Over the years, Lautari’s music has also featured: Rafał Habel, Marcin Ciupidro, Zbigniew Łowżył, Robert Siwak, Marcin Pospieszalski, Marcin Lamch, Piotr Gwadera, and Wojciech Pulcyn.
The musicians, in various forms of their activity, are committed to restoring the glory of Polish traditional music. They explore extreme forms of expression, performing both the raw music of rural masters and creating avant-garde artistic projects. They also compose music for radio plays and theater.
From the very beginning, the group has evoked emotions and admiration, earning significant awards. At their first festival, “Mikołajki Folkowe” in Lublin, December 2000, they won 3rd place in the Open Stage. A few months later, at “Nowa Tradycja,” they earned 2nd place. Their discography includes: “Musica Lautaresca Nova” (Folk Phonogram of the Year, 2nd place, 2002), “Azaran” (Folk Phonogram of the Year, 2006), and “Vol. 67” (2015).

LAUTARI – DŻEZBANDYTA
Dżezbandyta grew up in the postwar ruins, at a time when village bands discovered the “saxophone,” bass, and jazz. Looters, hustlers, and musicians, participants of village dances and shady floor dances at weddings and local parties, did not lose anything of the old “danceable” style. They steal rural music from dusty archives, closed banks, and forgotten cellars. Also known as Harasym’s gang or Lautari – thieves of village music!

Maciej Filipczuk – bagpipes
Jacek Hałas – cyja
Michał Żak – flute, clarinet, soprano sax, shawm
Marcin Lamch – electric guitar / bass
