Kapela Hałasów

Rodzinny duet / Nomadzi kultury. Muzyka i pieśni Polski oraz Europy Wschodniej. Do tańca, do słuchania i do smakowania.

Jacek Hałas – vocals, crank lyre, accordion, dance leading

Alicja Choromańska-Hałas – baraban, gardon

A family duo of accomplished artists, dedicated for years to exploring the most interesting and archaic forms of European music, dance, and craft.

Training with village masters complemented by the study of ethnographic materials, constant musical activity, theater and visual arts experience, four children, a rural home, and open minds. Members of the most remarkable folk ensembles in Poland, co-creators of international artistic and theatrical projects. Their music is the result of encounters with authentic musicians, a creative approach to archival materials, and many years of performance practice, seasoned with a touch of madness and a hint of melancholy.

Cultural Nomads – for many years they traveled across Europe with their own yurt, presenting theatrical performances, music, traditional dances, and storytelling. The yurt also served as a workshop space and a place for intergenerational and intercultural gatherings.

Dance practice – from village community dances to meetings with professional dancers – helped them develop their own style of leading workshops and social dances. They mainly draw on circular and spinning dances, live music, and teaching steps “on the spot” during the dance.
